The Jailhouse movie was filmed in a century-old jailhouse in rural Pender County, NC. The circumstances and history of this jail also served as the inspiration for the movie's storyline.

The jail was constructed in the early 1900's and designed so that the jailer and his family would reside on the first floor while inmates awaiting trial would be locked in cells on the second floor. The jailer and his wife were responsible for dispatch duties, feeding the inmates and tending to their health and welfare as well as the cleanliness of the jail.

The Jailhouse Writer/Director Billy Lewis and Producer/Actor Brandon Luck thoroughly researched the history of the Pender County jailhouse, interviewed citizens who were directly involved with the jail while it was still active (including the Jail Matron of the 1970's), and learned of some gruesome and terrifying incidents that occurred here.

The sheer potential for horror with a situation such as this live-in jail, combined with an actual history of violence and disaster, provided Lewis with the material he would need to create the screenplay and direct the film.

C. Thomas Howell stars alongside Rey Valentin and Lindsey McKeon. The Jailhouse is currently in post-production and is set to be released in 2009.

C. Thomas Howell (The Outsiders, Red Dawn) stars in a new psychological / suspense thriller, The Jailhouse from Writer/Director Billy Lewis.

Lewis was excited for the opportunity to work with C. Thomas Howell and was truly impressed with his skills and ability to bring lead character Seth Delray to life with intensity and passion.

"Tommy's talent brought our film to a whole other level. We all took his lead and know we made the best movie possible," says Lewis.

C. Thomas Howell's character, Seth Delray, is a Sheriff's Deputy who moves into a defunct, century-old jailhouse in rural North Carolina with his family while their house is under construction. In its day, the jail housed the jailer and his family on the first floor while inmates awaiting trial were locked in cells on the second floor. Unforeseen events transform Seth's temporary home into a working jail again and long-forgotten spirits are unleashed that will haunt Seth forever.

We're excited for the public to get a chance to see C. Thomas Howell on the big screen in 2009. We know you'll be blown away by his performance in this haunting thriller.

We did a lot of work to research the history of the jailhouse where the movie was filmed. The story of the real jailhouse was what inspired Billy to write and direct the movie.
